A new face has joined The Farmer Network.
Esme Jackson has taken up the role of Cumbria project manager at the not-for-profit farmer support organisation.
Brought up in Cockermouth, but now living near Kendal, her background is in environmental and conservation management, but she said her passion was to work more closely with the Cumbrian farming community.
Esme’s new role will see her supporting senior project manager Veronica Waller to create and manage new support projects, facilitate workshops and events working with network co-ordinators, and provide advice and information for members on industry issues and in particular environmental schemes.
Veronica said: “Esme is a very welcome addition to our small team. Her knowledge of environmental issues will be an asset to our farmer members who wish to balance the farm production business with taking advantage of any future schemes and opportunities.”
Esme added: “I am delighted to be joining the Farmer Network, whose unfaltering support of our farming communities is admired and appreciated by many.
“I am keen to work with the team to support farmers across the county to help them wherever I can.
“Farming is an essential part of our county’s resource from food production to the managed landscapes for which Cumbria is so well-known”.
