A leading Cumbrian accountancy firm has appointed a new tax senior manager to its corporate tax team.
David Rome joins Armstrong Watson from Johnston Carmichael in Edinburgh.
A chartered tax adviser and chartered accountant, David has advised businesses of all sizes on both compliance matters and complex transactions, with particular expertise in the taxation of corporate debt, including debt restructuring, convertible debt, and corporate interest restriction.
David said: “After relocating to Cumbria in 2023, joining Armstrong Watson was an easy decision. I’ve been impressed by the diversity of the client base and the opportunity to work with businesses of all sizes across a variety of sectors.
“Armstrong Watson’s commitment to delivering the best client experience in the UK is something I feel strongly about, and I’m excited to play my part in helping us achieve that ambition.
“I’m focused on strengthening our corporate tax presence in Cumbria and providing hands-on support to our local clients, helping them navigate an increasingly complex tax landscape.”
The accountancy, business and financial advisory firm has rapidly expanded its senior tax team in recent months, and David’s appointment follows a string of senior hires and promotions across the business.
In private tax, Gary Rowson joined as a partner in Manchester, Clare Lancaster joined as a director in Glasgow and Jane Greenwood was appointed in Northallerton as a tax senior manager.
Becky Bowness, head of tax, said: “We are thrilled to welcome David to our Carlisle office. His expertise in corporate tax and his proactive, client-focused approach make him a valuable addition to our team.
“I’m pleased to be growing our senior team and this key appointment reflects our continued investment in our tax offering across the business, ensuring that our clients continue to receive the highest level of service and advice to support them through increasingly complex tax challenges.”
