Tim Parsons

H&H Land & Estates director Tim Parsons has been given a prestigious award.

Mr Parsons, chartered surveyor and director of professional compliance, has been awarded the Simon Rowarth Memorial Award by the Northumbria & Cumbria Branch of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.

The award recognises exceptional service to the local association branch and is only presented in truly deserving cases. In many years the award is not presented at all, making this recognition particularly significant.

The Central Association of Agricultural Valuers is a specialist professional body representing, qualifying and briefing almost 3,000 members practising in a diverse range of agricultural and rural work in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Tim, who has been a longstanding fellow, of the association has played a major role in supporting the profession over the course of his career.

His contributions include serving on the national association council for over 20 years, helping to uphold the profession’s high standards, and supporting many surveyors through their training and professional development.

David Coulson, branch secretary, said: “Tim has served on council with me for 20 years and has always dedicated himself to the task, reading papers thoroughly  and digesting them.

“His contributions were always significant at both council and committee meetings. He chaired the branch in the past, but more importantly he assisted with education by working with the self help group and tutorials.

“Tim would give up his spare time to attend events to make sure the association candidates got the proper training in preparation for their exams. It is an award he thoroughly deserves.”

Tim said: “I am extremely honoured to be awarded the Simon Rowarth Memorial Award. I have been a member since joining Alan Bowe as a trainee straight from college in 1992.

“The branch and the association more generally have supported me greatly over the years, and I have had the pleasure of serving on the branch committee, as branch chairman, and for the last 20 years as a member of the central governing council.

“In my career, I have always tried to give something back to the organisation and the rural surveying profession more widely.

“I particularly enjoyed being involved in setting up the Young Valuers group for the branch back in 1994 and helping with the training and mentoring of those coming into the profession, both latterly at H&H Land & Estates and in its predecessor firms. I am extremely proud to have hopefully played a positive part in so many developing careers.

“Although I am now stepping back from direct involvement with the branch and central council, I look forward to continuing to take part in the social side of the branch and supporting the organisation wherever I can.”
