Lakes College has enhanced its Cumbria Chamber of Commerce membership to partner level, reflecting the college’s own commitment to deepening its engagement with the Cumbrian business community and supporting economic growth across the county.

Lakes College, at Lillyhall, near Workington, plays a vital role in Cumbria through the delivery of further and higher education, apprenticeships, adult learning and employer-led training, working closely with businesses to develop skills and talent across a range of sectors.

Its decision to enhance its membership to partner level demonstrates a clear intention to strengthen collaboration with employers and contribute to the long-term prosperity of the region.

Partner level membership is one of the Chamber’s highest tier and is designed for organisations that want to take a more active role in shaping the business environment in Cumbria.

As a partner, Lakes College will benefit from enhanced strategic engagement, increased visibility and senior-level networking, while working closely with the Chamber on skills, workforce development and economic priorities.

James Bridges, head of membership and commercial at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are delighted that Lakes College has chosen to enhance its membership to partner level.

“Skills and education are fundamental to the success of our economy, and Lakes College is a key contributor to developing the workforce our businesses need.

“Their decision reflects a strong commitment to collaboration and to supporting employers across Cumbria.”

Through its Partner membership, Lakes College will continue to build stronger relationships with businesses, policy makers and stakeholders, helping to ensure that training provision remains aligned with the needs of the local economy and supports sustainable growth.

Gary Martin, assistant principal for apprenticeships and nuclear at Lakes College, said: “Enhancing our membership to partner level with Cumbria Chamber of Commerce reflects our commitment to working alongside employers and stakeholders across Cumbria.

“The chamber provides a valuable platform for collaboration, and Partner membership allows us to play a more active role in supporting skills, employment and opportunity throughout the region.”

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce continues to bring together leading organisations from across the county, championing enterprise, skills and investment.
