A recent report revealed that for every £1 invested correctly in wellbeing translates into £5.60 in productivity.

The report, by Deloitte, says looking after your staff’s well-being is vital and a Cumbrian firm has been helping over 1,200 people to manage their stress levels in the county.

And Office of National Statistics figures last month showed that 400,000 people in the UK were off work on long-term sick.

Adapt and Evolve Consultancy has teamed up with Cumbria Chamber of Commerce to offer a biological well-being training workshop to help people combat stress levels and focus on their well-being at work.

The event, at Castle Green Hotel in Kendal on Tuesday February 6, will be run by Zoe Billings and Mark Pannone, of Adapt and Evolve Consultancy.

Dr Billings, an Inspector in North Yorkshire Police, who achieved a Phd in biology from the University of York, said their workshop is known for its hard core science about how stress negatively impacts the body and proven methods to alleviate and avoid stress through clear, easy-to-adopt advice.

Dr Billings said: “People might believe they are fine, and feel like they are coping, but this workshop will teach people to recognise the signs of stress and listen to their body so they don’t realise too late.

“It provides them with a useful toolkit to deal with that in ways which won’t cost them anything – there’s no gym membership or anything like that to fund. This is advice which is really effective and really works.”

Head of business support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Lesley Robinson said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Adapt and Evolve to deliver this training. Their stress management training has already helped so many people get their stress under control and improve their wellbeing.

“We’re excited to help facilitate this and bring this benefit to more people.”
