A leading Cumbrian construction firm is breaking down barriers around wellbeing and mental health.

Cubby Construction, based in Carlisle, said it was being proactive to prioritise mental health and wellbeing among its workforce.

In collaboration with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity’s #MakeItVisible team, the firm hosted an event aimed at breaking down the barriers surrounding mental health in the workplace.

The event this week provided an invaluable opportunity for employees to engage with the #MakeItVisible team and learn about support services available to them.

Cubby Construction Mental Wellbeing Champions extended a warm invitation to the entire company, encouraging all employees to participate in welcoming the #MakeItVisible team as part of their North West tour.

The event offered insightful discussions, anecdotes, and practical resources to empower individuals and promote mental wellbeing.

Cubby Construction said it aimed to foster a culture of open dialogue surrounding mental health, providing employees with the tools and support they needed to navigate the challenges they may face.

With around 50 employees in attendance, the event signified a significant step towards raising awareness and breaking the stigma associated with mental health in the construction industry, the company said.

During the event, the #MakeItVisible team delivered an informal and informative toolbox tal’, emphasising the importance of prioritising health and wellbeing in the workplace.

People also had the opportunity to engage with the team on a one-to-one basis, further facilitating open discussion and support.
