A Cumbrian-headquartered PR agency has been named in the top 20 firms working in the public sector across the UK by a leading industry list.
32West was ranked 17th in the prestigious PRWeek Top 150 for companies which operate across the public sector, jumping up five places from the previous year.
The agency, which works cross-sector with clients throughout the north of England and south of Scotland, is the only representative from across Cumbria, Lancashire, the North East and the Borders in the top 25, and one of only five businesses based in the north.
It was recognised for its work across multiple areas within the public sector including local government, governmental departments and public sector-funded organisations.
32West’s revenues within the public sector rose by 40% in the financial year 2023-24 from the previous year, the firm said, the fourth highest increase among the businesses which appeared in the list.
This was amid a drop in revenue for many, with 10 representatives of the top 25 experiencing revenue dips during the same period.
James Higgins, a director at 32West, said: “We are delighted to feature so highly in the PRWeek rankings, the industry bible for PR and communications firms in the UK, and it is down to the excellent work our team carries out every day for our clients operating in the public sector.
“It is great to represent the north in a list typically dominated by firms operating in and around London, and it’s great recognition of the work being done across the regions we serve.”
32West just missed out on a place in PRWeek’s top 50 PR agencies outside London, being ranked in 51st spot.
The company was founded in 2018 and continues to expand, with two new recruits taking the number of team members to 14. The company is based in Ulverston, and also has offices in Carlisle, West Cumbria and Newcastle.
