Ulverston-based LED lighting design and manufacturer Forge has announced a partnership with German company CUPOWER.

CUPOWER which was founded in 2009, specialises in research and development, production, and sales of light emitting diode drivers. With over 15 years of experience in driver design and manufacturing, their portfolio encompasses more than 300 different products with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) supplied as standard.

CUPOWER’s range of drivers will provide Forge’s clients with up-to-date embodied carbon measurement in projects. Using products with reliable EPDs allows clients’ projects to meet the international standard for measuring embodied carbon.

Architects and lighting designers can use this data towards their Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) to measure the operational carbon of a building or structure against their goal to reach net zero targets.

Forge’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and circular design and manufacturing principles provides the backbone of its LED product development, compliant with ISO 9001, and ISO14001 standards.

“Forge is committed to protecting and reducing our impact on the environment,” David Scott-Maxwell, managing director at Forge, said: ”Through responsible sourcing, manufacturing, and waste reduction practices, we strive to minimise our carbon footprint and create a better world for future generations.

“Following our first visit to the CUPOWER manufacturing facilities in 2016 we were immediately impressed by their industry-leading investment in burn-in capacity, coupled with their highly innovative technical capabilities.

“So, with our commitment to reducing environmental impact, and their innovative and ethical solutions, we designed-in CUPOWER LED drivers. Eight years later we’re very happy that we found a partner that aligns with our business goals.

“Our partnership with CUPOWER is a positive step towards empowering our clients to meet their sustainability goals through the production of EPDs and measures of carbon savings.”
