Longtown based Haulage company Wm Armstrong are taking a more daring-than-usual approach to raise money for their local charity partner Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland – an organisation that provides support to those with palliative and end of life care needs, whilst also supporting their families/loved ones.

Four members of staff from the Wm Armstrong team have kindly and courageously agreed to do a tandem skydive from 11,000 ft, on September 1st 2018 at the Black Knights Parachute Centre in Lancaster. Each skydiver is collecting donations in reward for their bravery, with all funds raised going to Hospice at Home.

The four employees donning their parachutes on September 1st are: Beth Oliver (Customer Service Admin Assistant), David Turnbull (Management Accountant), Steven Richardson (Traffic Planner) and Stewart Caton (Traffic Supervisor). When asked about the skydive, Beth Oliver said “I’m excited to do the skydive but also a little nervous, I just keep telling myself that I’m going on a rollercoaster for a good cause!”. Wm Armstrong’s Managing Director, Jennifer Whyberd added “Hospice at Home is a wonderful cause so we urge everyone to give generously to the Skydive fund; we are looking to raise at least £2000 so any donations large or small are hugely appreciated.”

Cath Coates, Fundraiser for Hospice at Home spoke highly of Wm Armstrong’s participation “the Charity is very grateful to Wm Armstrong for their continued support and for entering a team into the Skydive event. The support of our local community is vitally important to enable Hospice at Home to continue providing care for local patients and I would like to thank each donor who has sponsored the team for their generosity and kindness. I hope the Skydive is an experience the team will never forget!!”

A ‘My Donate’ page has been set up for the Skydive fund which enables donations to be made easily and safely online. The page can be found at: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/wmarmstrong.
