A ship which is often seen navigating the south Cumbrian coast will be absent for the next few weeks.
The Isle of Man Steam Company’s flagship ferry Manxman is undergoing scheduled maintenance for the first time since it arrived in the Irish Sea.
The ship, which operates the company’s main route from Douglas to Heysham, has arrived at APCL’s Cammell Laird facility on Merseyside to undergo a range of repairs and servicing.

Work will include hull repairs, cleaning, painting, and pipework modifications while work will also take place to accommodation areas, flooring and deck.
The dry docking marks a significant milestone in the vessel’s service history, being the first time Manxman has visited Cammell Laird for repairs since being commissioned into service just over a year ago.
