Sainsbury’s has announced that its new Kendal supermarket will open its doors to customers for the first time on Wednesday 26 September. The store, located on Shap Road, Kendal, will offer customers a choice of quality food and clothing for fantastic value, as well as a variety of convenient services, including an Argos and Specsavers.

Alongside a wide range of branded and Sainsbury’s own-brand groceries, the Kendal supermarket also includes an in-store bakery. From October, the store will also serve the local community by fulfilling online orders and deliveries.

The Argos store within the supermarket stocks a range of over 20,000 products. Not only will customers be able to pick up their Argos and Tu clothing orders in-store, they can also use Argos’s market-leading Fast Track Delivery and Fast Track Collection – 20,000 products can be ordered for same day collection in store and for home delivery in as little as four hours.

There will be a Specsavers counter offering eye tests, contact lens fittings and a range of affordable and designer glasses. The store also has a 500-space car park and petrol filling station.

Sainsbury’s always aims to employ people from the local community and the store has created 210 jobs, the majority of which have been taken by people new to the business.

Stuart Butters, Sainsbury’s Kendal Store Manager, said, “The new store looks fantastic and we have a great team of colleagues – most of whom are new to Sainsbury’s – who are really excited to welcome and serve customers. Kendal residents can look forward to a distinctive and differentiated choice of quality food as well as access a huge range of Argos products, all under one roof.”

The Kendal store will trade from 7am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 11am until 5pm on Sundays.
