Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Cumberland Building Society has joined the organisation at its highest level of membership, becoming the chamber’s fifth patron member.

This partnership marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between one of the region’s most recognised financial institutions and Cumbria’s leading business network.

The Cumberland has a long history of supporting communities and businesses across the county, and its return at patron level reflects a strong alignment of values and ambition.

James Bridges, head of membership and commercial at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Cumberland to the chamber as our fifth patron member.

“Their decision to join at our highest level of membership demonstrates a clear commitment to supporting Cumbria’s economy and the businesses that drive it forward.

“The Cumberland is a trusted and respected organisation with deep roots in our region. Their insight, influence and community focus make them an invaluable partner as we continue to champion growth, resilience and opportunity across Cumbria.”

Patron membership is the chamber’s most senior level of engagement, bringing together a small group of leading organisations that play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the county’s economy.

As a patron member, The Cumberland will work closely with the chamber and its network to support key initiatives, influence policy and drive meaningful impact for businesses throughout the region.

Scott McKerracher, head of commercial at The Cumberland, said: “We are very pleased to join Cumbria Chamber of Commerce as a patron member.

“Supporting local businesses and helping our communities to prosper is central to our purpose, and will enable us to strengthen and continue to play an active role in driving positive change across Cumbria.

“We look forward to working alongside the chamber and fellow patrons and members to support a strong and sustainable future for the region.”
