A Whitehaven man has won a major national award in the competitive world of builders’ merchants.
Phil Hannah, of JT Atkinson, was named Branch Manager of the Year and was honoured at an awards ceremony in London.
He was up against Kevin Beecher, of Lords Builders’ Merchants, London and the Home Counties, and John Cully, Cowal Building & Plumbing Supplies who supply the west of Scotland.
Phil, 38, said: “I was honoured to make it to the final three candidates and being recognised as the best manager in the UK was truly mind-blowing!
“To be acknowledged in front of over 700 industry experts was a once in a life-time experience.
“I’m incredibly lucky to have such a supportive team at the branch and they are the true foundation of our success. We have 14 staff at the Whitehaven branch and hope to expand to 17 in 2025.”
Phil has been in charge of the Whitehaven branch of JT Atkinson for two years and previously worked for Travis Perkins, first becoming a branch manager in 2011.
