Salon Rouge team in their new premises

Salon Rouge based in Penrith are embarking on their next chapter as they move into new premises, in Sandgate, ahead of their tenth anniversary celebrations.

Tanya Tinkler, 33, opened the business back in 2009 with a core team of stylists and beauticians working for her. The business has grown, clientele developed and the range of services they now provide is extensive.

The move came about after looking for a new home where the business could expand and develop even further. Many changes had taken place in the business over the years and Tanya felt it was time to move on to develop the business and offer clients even more services in nicer surroundings.

Tanya said: “I feel sad to be leaving our old shop in Corn Market, but it was time for a change. We needed to do work on the old salon, and I felt it was better to find a new place to invest in. We have two new beauty rooms and more space to expand our core services as well. I have a strong team behind me and we are all excited to get going. I cannot wait for our clients to see the changes we have made and the new facilities and services we can offer them.”

Salon Rouge, who were finalists in the North West Wedding Industry Awards earlier in November are also preparing to celebrate ten years in business in 2019. Tanya has been working in the industry since she left school, although says her career in hairdressing began whilst she was there,

“When I was 13, I got my first job as a Saturday girl in a local salon. I was so passionate about hair, that I would skip lunch at school to do friends hair at break time. I think that entrepreneurial flair when I was a teenager is what has stood me in good stead for being a successful businesswoman. During my Saturday job I was such a ‘hair geek’ that I pushed myself forward all the time and was even allowed to do my first proper hair cut at 14 years of age – when others would still be sweeping up, or making cups of tea (and I still have those scissors!)”

After school Tanya went on to undertake an apprenticeship and NVQ levels 2&3. She even completed the course six months earlier as she was so determined to progress and learn everything she could.

The team at Salon Rouge are passionate about being at the forefront of the industry learning the latest techniques and advancements in hair care and beauty. They undertake annual GHD training courses, including bridal and red carpet sessions, Morena Crolla bespoke styling sessions once a year, Hot Tools professional bespoke training and Editorial Dressing with David Thomas Hair.

“I am very excited about the future. We have had a tricky couple of years, but it has taught me to learn that bad things often need to happen to make good things come about. My business has grown to a new level and has given me an increased drive and determination to make it succeed – watch this space!”

The new salon will be located at 36 Sandgate and will launch with an opening party on the 1st December 12pm – 4pm.
