Jonathan Warburton

Popular Cumbrian networking event LA23NET will welcome Britain’s favourite bread maker Jonathan Warburton as its guest speaker on March 6th this year. The unusual networking evenings began life in Windermere but now attract over one hundred attendees from all over Cumbria and the surrounding counties. The unconventional sessions are run by Sophia Newton and Janett Walker of Cumbrian events and PR company FLOCK and Chaired by Grant Seaton of The Cumberland. Welcoming a variety of monthly speakers, previous months have included tours and talks at Carlisle Lake District Airport, James Cropper Plc and the soon to be opened Windermere Jetty. The latest high calibre speaker, Jonathan Warburton will speak on “Authenticity and Dissatisfaction” The event will take place at the theatre at Windermere School. Tickets are £15 and include networking, food and drinks.

Janett Walker co-founder of Flock said “We were approached by Windermere School and asked if we wished to collaborate with them by holding an LA23NET event at the school. Partnering with the school was an easy decision as far as we were concerned particularly given its amazing location. When the school told us they had secured Jonathan as the speaker, we were genuinely thrilled as we have a strong engaged business following who would love to hear his story.”

Jane Gallon, Head of Admissions and Marketing at Windermere School added “Collaborating with LA23NET for this event is a natural fit for us. The school is keen to engage with the business community as much as possible and we like LA23NET’s alternative approach to networking. Warburton’s is one of Britain’s most respected and valued businesses and the story is inspiring, educational and full of stimulation for our own businesses, especially given the recent investments and future ambitions of the company. We are pleased that we can offer the extra capacity for this event in our theatre as we expect an extremely strong turn-out, from both LA23NET attendees, and Windermere School community.”

Jonathan is an active member of the fifth-generation family business which was founded in 1870. Initially baking started as an arm of the family’s grocery store but quickly grew to become Warburton’s the Bakers, and today is a well-loved household brand. Warburton’s has doubled in size in the last decade alone, producing and distributing over 2 million products a day across their 12 bakeries and 14 depots. You’re never more than 100 miles away from a Warburton’s site! During the last ten years they have invested over £400million, £20million of which was directed to Warburton’s Burnley bakery, equipping it with the capability to produce 34,000 individual items an hour.  The investment and future thinking approach of Warburton’s is clear to see and people are being encouraged to book soon.
