Rathbones Kendal, the local branch of Rathbone Investment Management, has confirmed it will support the Westmorland County Show for the first time this year as one of the two Principal Partner sponsors, alongside North West Auctions. The Westmorland County Show is one of Britain’s oldest and largest one-day agricultural shows, enjoyed by over 30,000 visitors each year, putting the second Thursday of September in their calendars.

The Show’s list of sponsors this year includes: NWA, Rathbones Kendal, Lakeland, Carrs Billington, Craven Concrete, A.W. Jenkinson, CF Fertilisers, Hadwins Motor Group, Thomson Hayton Winkley, Electricity North West, University of Cumbria and McCarthy & Stone.

The winner of Tourism Event of the Year in the 2018 Cumbria Tourism Awards, the Westmorland County Show is a major livestock show with cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and alpacas, heavy and light horses, as well as foxhounds. The show features hundreds of trade stands and have-a-go areas for rural and traditional crafts, with a creche where parents can drop off their children while they explore the showgrounds. An array of local culinary delights are available in the North West’s largest local Food Hall, including artisan chocolates, cheeses, pies and gins. Every year crowds particularly enjoy the showjumping and Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling.

Christine Knipe

Christine Knipe, Chief Executive of Westmorland Agricultural Society, said: “On behalf of the Society, I sincerely look forward to welcoming Rathbones Kendal to The Westmorland County Show 2019 as a principal partner. The support of our Sponsors is greatly appreciated and has been of upmost importance in helping the Society continue to develop the Show. We do look forward to welcoming our guests to the newly named Rathbones Terrace.”

Richard Dawson, Regional Director of Rathbones Kendal, said: “We have been involved with the Westmorland Show for many years and we’re really happy to announce we’ll be supporting it this year for the first time as principal partners. We’re looking forward to this year’s show and hope that visitors and competitors alike have a great time.”

This show raises funds for the Westmorland County Agricultural Society to help support farming and the countryside (Registered Charity Number 1067224). The show will be held at Lane Farm, Crooklands, Milnthorpe, Cumbria LA7 7NH from 8.00am to 5.30pm. Parking at the showground is free all day and dogs are permitted in most parts of the showground on a short leash.
