Just months after it was outlined as an idea a creative organisation which aims to help nurture the county’s digital industries is about to launch.
Tech District Cumbria is the idea of Graham Hadaway, of Windermere, who says his aim is to grow digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Cumbria at a time when demand has never been greater.
The entrepreneur has worked in Cumbria for over 10 years and says he identified a need for a united voice for all technology industries and like-minded people to collaborate.
“Thanks to Enterprising Cumbria and the Cumbria Accelerator programme the idea has taken off and I’m thrilled to announce a series of events designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and growth within the region’s burgeoning tech community will take place,” Graham told Business Crack.
“These events will provide a platform for local businesses, university and college students, and tech enthusiasts to connect, learn, and contribute to Cumbria’s technological future.”
Called Connect Cumbria, the series aims to create a dynamic environment where attendees can explore the economic opportunities within Cumbria’s tech space, brainstorm new business ideas, and shape the direction of Tech District Cumbria.
Events will be held over the coming months at venues across Cumbria.
“Tech District Cumbria is an independent voice committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive tech ecosystem in the region formed to fill a much needed gap,” Graham added.
“Now is a crucial time for Cumbria with real, tangible opportunities existing to shift discussions, support new businesses and make the most of what is happening in the county now.”
Paul Foster, head of programmes at Enterprising Cumbria, said the economic development agency was keen to support an innovative new community from the start.
“Tech District Cumbria offers a great opportunity to link like minded businesses and help to develop the sector across our county,” Paul said.
“This will act as a significant boost to our economy and will showcase some of the excellent businesses we have on our doorstep, giving them the support they need to thrive.”
