27th July 25 - Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon John Healey MP, Deputy Prime Minister for Australia and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles MP, and Australian Foreign Minister, Senator Penny Wong, visit Royal Navy aircraft carrier and fleet flagship, HMS Prince of Wales in Darwin, Australia, her latest stop of the UK Carrier Strike Groups deployment to the Indo-Pacific.The Ship's visit to Darwin marks the first time a Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier has visited Australia, and the first Royal Navy aircraft carrier since 1997.The ship is currently leading the UK Carrier Strike Group (UKCSG) in Exercise Talisman Sabre, an Australia-led multinational exercise to enhance cooperation and relationships between partner nations, and to demonstrate commitment to the collective security of the Indo-Pacific and maintenance of the Rules-based International System. 19 nations are taking part in 2025, the eleventh iteration and largest ever, which is focussed on multi-domain warfighting and will see ships, aircraft and over 30,000 personnel exercising across Australia and in Papua New Guinea.UKCSG is part way through Operation Highmast, the Royal Navy's key deployment of 2025. Led by HMS Prince of Wales, and involving a dozen nations, the eight-month mission will take the task group to the western Pacific Rim via the Mediterranean and Middle East with a series of large-scale exercises with Britain's allies and partners.The goal is to reaffirm the UKs commitment to the security of the Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific region, demonstrate collective resolve with our allies and showcase British trade and industry. Over the course of the deployment, upwards of 4,500 British military personnel will be involved, including 2,500 Royal Navy sailors and Royal Marines, alongside 900 soldiers and 600 RAF.

Pictured: An Astute Class Submarine on the surface.United Kingdom Carrier Strike Group 21 (CSG21) consists of multiple vessels from the UK as well as ships from the United States Navy and the Dutch Navy. One of those assets includes an Astute Class Submarine. Whilst operating within the Mediterranean an Astute Class submarine conducted a rare surface; to interact and exercise with HMS Queen Elizabeth and the task group.HMS Queen Elizabeth is the deployed flag ship for CSG21 will see the ship along with the Strike Group work with over 40 countries from around the world. The Strike Group will operate and exercise with other Countries Navies and Air Forces during the 7 month deployment.The Strike Group includes ships from the United States Navy, The Dutch Navy, and Marines from the US Marine Corps. As well as UK Frigates, Destroyers two RFA supply ships and air assets from 617 Sqn, 820 NAS, 815 NAS and 845 NAS. This will be the largest deployment of Fifth Generation Fighter Jets in history.
