Specsavers Carlisle hosts vintage tea party

THE team at Specsavers in Carlisle turned back time to raise money to support people with sight loss.

To celebrate Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)’s 150th anniversary, the Carlisle Specsavers store hosted a Vintage Tea in a nod to the sight loss charity’s milestone..

The store was decorated with bunting and balloons, tea and coffee were offered to customers and delicious cakes were baked in support of the event during National Eye Health Week on Friday 28 September.

Staff even dressed up in 80s style costumes to really get into the swing of things, raising over £50 for the RNIB which will provide vital funds for those suffering with sight loss.

The money raised will go towards providing free talking books, offering essential advice and support as well as ensuring the RNIB’s helpline can continue to run and make a difference to people’s lives.

Glenn Rowe, Specsavers Carlisle store director says: ‘We want to say a huge thank you to all our customers for coming out to support our Vintage Tea and the incredible work or the RNIB. The day was filled with fun and proved to be a huge success.

Specsavers joined forces with RNIB in 2016 to raise awareness of the importance of getting your eyes tested. Experts recommend people should get their eyes checked every two years.
