Long-standing removals and storage firm Andrew Porter Ltd is set to launch Kendal’s first self storage centre, and has already been inundated with interest.

Andrew Porter Ltd purchased local removals firm Richards of Kendal almost 20 years ago and has now converted its premises at Kendal Business Centre into the area’s only self storage facility.

With more than 100 indoor and outdoor units, ranging from 25 square feet up to 125 square feet, the service is expected to be popular with local residents and businesses alike.

Visitors to the open day on Monday November 26, running from 9am to 6pm, can tuck into bacon butties in the morning and enjoy cakes and a glass off fizz in the afternoon, as well as taking home a free gift and taking advantage of special opening offers.

Managing director Tim Aspey explained the decision to create the facility.

“Our self store facility in Lancashire opened in January and has proved hugely popular, with so many customers commenting how they really appreciate our friendly and customer-focused approach to business.  So after our Kendal site was damaged by flood waters, we took the opportunity to create something new,” he said.

“It has taken six months to complete the work and we are delighted to now be open for business.  Manager Stephen Gregson, who lives in the area, was showing customers around the site weeks before work was even finished.  There’s a great sense of excitement that there is now a self storage facility in Kendal, so people don’t have to travel miles to Windermere or Penrith.

“We’ve incorporated a wide range of services, including outdoor units, a pay per item service, item collection and free van hire, as well as specialist services for business customers.”

New customers who have storage units elsewhere in the area can also claim a free transfer service to bring their items into storage.
