Dean Robinson and John Coughlan

Last night, The Manufacturer magazine announced the UK’s 100 most inspiring and influential individuals in its TM Top 100 2018 report. TSP Engineering enjoyed double success this year as Chief Executive Officer, John Coughlan has been recognised as one of the Top 20 exemplary inspiring leaders in manufacturing in the UK.

On being recognised, John said: “It’s a true honour to not only be recognised as an inspiring leader in the manufacturing industry but also to be chosen as one of 20 exemplary figures across the UK. I would also wish it to be recognised that the team at TSP Engineering have played a major part in my achieving this honour.”

John was recognised as an inspiring leader for making such a continued effective and dynamic contribution to the business turnaround of TSP Engineering.

Project Engineer, Dean Robinson has been recognised as one of the Top 100 inspiring individuals in manufacturing in the UK for his work with the supply chain department in developing local relationships with specific specialist SME suppliers and increasing the business’ spend with SME’s and the local supply chain. Earlier this year Dean completed his Bachelor Engineering Degree (Honours) in Mechanical Plant Engineering and was awarded the Institute of Plant Engineers Student of the Year.

Dean said: “I’m honoured, ecstatic and overjoyed to be nominated and selected in the ‘Top 100 most influential people in manufacturing’ is an incredible accolade. I’m very happy to accept this prestigious award.”

This year’s The Manufacturer Top 100 comprises incredible candidates hailing from all over the country, from a range of sectors and occupy varying roles in manufacturing.

The project, sponsored by Cranfield University, aims to dispel the myths surrounding manufacturing and create a platform to champion and publicly identify dynamic leaders and innovators in the sector.

Comprising of a report and a launch event, The Manufacturer Top 100 helps to provoke more widespread competitiveness within the sector, highlighting not only best practice but inspiring others to follow suit.

Now in its fifth year, 2018 saw more than 250 individuals nominated by readers of The Manufacturer, the wider industrial community and the public. All of whom have stood out for their contributions in changing the face of industry; finding new markets; making a marked investment in people, processes and customers or for making an impact disproportionate to their years. These individuals were narrowed down to form The Manufacturer Top 100 2018 cohort, with 20 of them profiled in depth to underline their outstanding contribution to the sector.

Nick Hussey, CEO, Hennik Group – publishers of The Manufacturer, said: “Projects like The Manufacturer Top 100 play an absolutely vital role, serving to demonstrate the reality of what the highly diverse, well-paid careers available in industry actually look like.

“I am delighted and honoured to have come to know personally many of those named as one of The Manufacturer Top 100 to date. Their stories are ones of inspiration, determination, passion and achievement.”
