Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) is to hold its third and final round of consultation on the county’s new Local Industrial Strategy.

The LEP is working with businesses and the public and voluntary and community sectors to develop the new strategy, which will highlight Cumbria’s strengths and make a compelling case to Government and the private sector for investment up to 2030.

The third and final round of consultation events and dates and times are:

  • Monday 4 March: CLEP Conference Centre, Redhills, Penrith (10am – 12 noon)
  • Monday 4 March: Lakes College, Workington (2pm – 4pm)
  • Tuesday 5 March: Westmorland Hotel, Tebay (10am – 12 noon)
  • Tuesday 5 March: Furness College, Barrow in Furness (2pm – 4pm).

Bookings can be made at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/cumbria-lep-17457022711

Cumbria LEP Chief Executive Jo Lappin says: “We are keen to involve all of our partners in the third and final round of consultations on the development of Cumbria’s Local Industrial Strategy.

“This important document is the county’s key strategy for growing our economy, improving productivity and making sure that all of our people benefit from economic growth.

“The final round of consultation events invite all partners to contribute their ideas for further development of the strategy. It will provide opportunities for colleagues to share good practice, innovations and great ideas that are already being delivered in Cumbria and could be scaled up.

“These will be highly interactive events with all partners having the opportunity to share their views.”

The LEP is keen to hear from a wide range of organisations, including businesses, councils, colleges, universities, schools, the NHS, the police, the fire service, charities and groups that represent particular sectors, such as advanced manufacturing, tourism, nuclear and agriculture.

An event agenda, draft copy of the Local Industrial strategy, an accompanying economic review document and an overview briefing will be forwarded to confirmed attendees in advance of each event.

The final document will be aligned with the Government’s national Industrial Strategy, which looks to drive forward the national economy based on five foundations of productivity: innovative ideas, people and jobs, major infrastructure upgrades, business environment and places for more prosperous communities.

Following this final round of consultation, the new Local Industrial Strategy document will be submitted to government for discussion on Cumbria’s economic priorities.
