Tourism businesses are invited to the fourth Allerdale business breakfast.

The event, organised by Allerdale Borough Council, is happening on Wednesday 27 February 2019 from 8:15am to 10am at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.

Speakers include Claire Kerrin from Sustrans on making the most from the Hadrian’s Cycleway, and Paul Armstrong from the University of Cumbria on apprenticeships. The event is being hosted by Mark Fryer, deputy leader for Allerdale Borough Council.

Attendees will also hear about how to get involved in the council’s plans to hold a second “Allerdale Days in…” event later in the year. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the opportunities for businesses to employ skilled individuals who are leaving the armed forces.

The council will also be showcasing the films it has produced to help promote the area – including one designed for the rapidly growing Chinese market. Attendees will also be able to experience Allerdale’s attractions like never before, via virtual reality headsets.

Cllr Bill Jefferson, Executive member with responsibility for tourism said: “I’d like to welcome everyone with an interest in tourism to come along and find out about the great work being done by ourselves and others, as well as learn about new initiatives. The previous events have proved really popular and they are a great way to network with like-minded people and really help put Allerdale on the tourist map.”

This is the fourth such breakfast meeting, after previous events in Maryport, Cockermouth and Keswick.
