Ye Olde Fleece Inn is the oldest pub in Kendal has reopened its doors following a significant £600k joint investment by pub owners, Punch and new Publicans, Drs Josh Macaulay and Chris Moss.

This beautiful, timber framed pub dates to 1654, so it was important that the investment breathed new life into the historic building whilst maintaining all its existing charm and elegance.

The works included full exterior redecorations, new signage and lighting. Inside has also been completely overhauled with a full refurbishment creating a traditional, casual dining pub downstairs and a fine dining restaurant and event rooms upstairs.

Ye Olde Fleece Inn has reopened with new publicans, Doctors Josh Macaulay and Chris Moss who have plans to make further investment at the pub which will take this mammoth renovation project to total of £1million

Drs Macaulay and Moss also own Kendal based Westmorland Homecare and they are passionate about the community. They have been interested in the Fleece for some time now, Dr Macaulay said ‘’We are so pleased to finally be opening the doors, the pub looks fantastic! We have lots of plans for the Fleece and are passionate about creating a place for everyone to enjoy all year round bringing it back to the heart of the community.’’

The pub will offer a number of experiences for customers to enjoy, whether it be a relaxing drink in the pub with lunch or a fine dining experience for a special occasion, Ye Olde Fleece will have something for everyone.

To match a high quality, all day food offer, customers have a wide range of drinks to choose from including quality cask ale, craft beers, wine and fantastic gin range.

With good food and drink must come entertainment, Josh and Chris have lots of plans to offer entertainment with a difference.  From steak and piano nights and ‘retro’ film nights hosted in the ‘Westmorland Suite’ upstairs to Kendal’s very own Comedy Club which is launching on Mother’s Day.

Ye Olde Fleece Inn is the perfect venue to host any occasion, from a special anniversary to a birthday party or even a wedding.

Dr Macaulay added ‘’We want to create something exciting for the community to help reinvigorate the town that we love so much. We are focussed on providing a safe, warm and welcoming place for everyone to enjoy on any occasion.’’

Following the refurbishment, Managing Director of Operations, Andy Spencer said ‘’Ye Olde Fleece Inn is a stunning venue and we are extremely pleased with the new look pub that has been created here. Josh and Chris have some amazing ideas and we are really looking forward to working with them as they grow their pub business’’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32 million in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs.
