This April, Cumbrian couple, Natalie Brass and Andrew Murray-Jones, will be opening a contemporary interiors boutique in the heart of Penrith.

The shop, named Lakes Living, will stock a range of stylish furnishings including contemporary home decor, elegant furniture and chic lighting, sourced from suppliers across Cumbria and Europe. Located on Great Dockary, the couple will also be setting up an online shop enabling customers across the UK to buy from the Penrith-based business. Natalie will head up buying, social media and the day-to-day running of the shop, while Andrew will be developing the online side of the business.

Lakes Living will carry an eclectic array of homewares that reflect current interior trends such as Scandinavian design, modern country and industrial luxe, whilst displaying the couple’s own passion for timeless elegance, quality and simplicity. The pieces, handpicked by Natalie, have been sourced from as close by as Edenhall to further afield from producers in Holland, Spain and Australia, creating a unique shopping experience appealing to both locals and visitors alike.

The inspiration behind Lakes Living came after the couple started renovating properties within the area in 2014, sparking Natalie’s love of interiors. Having worked on a number of restoration projects, Natalie’s passion for interior design has grown with every project, where she worked to carefully hand-pick and source pieces from home decor suppliers around the country. Spotting a gap in the Penrith retail scene, the local couple grabbed the opportunity to create a modern interiors store in the town centre.

Commenting on the new venture Natalie said: “Andrew and I are so excited about opening Lakes Living. Having both grown up and lived in the area, we feel that Penrith is the perfect place to set up the shop. When I started renovating and furnishing homes, I really struggled to find exactly what I wanted locally.

“I hope that by bringing Lakes Living to Penrith, local customers will be able to find unique pieces to help make their home personal, stylish and extra special. We believe that the digital side of the business is also a really important part of Lakes Living. With the growth of online shopping it will allow customers outside the area to access the shop which is great!”

Andrew stated “The Penrith Strategic Masterplan sets out a vision for Penrith’s growth over the next three decades. We hope that by opening Lakes Living we can be a part of this and sustain local business to support the high street.”

Lakes Living is due to open on 9th April, located at 4 Cornmarket, Penrith, CA11 7DA.
