CB ARTS – Chris Brammall

Award winning Cumbrian sculptural and architectural blacksmith, Chris Brammall and his team are celebrating 25 years of making amazing metal work. A remarkable success story, from humble beginnings working independently in a traditional blacksmith forge in Graythwaite, to building purpose built premises in Ulverston and employing a team of craftsmen; Chris’s work can now be seen across the North West and beyond.

Their 25th year marks a new chapter for the company as they re-brand as CB Arts. The name change signifies a step forward for the company opening up new avenues and opportunities to grow and develop.

For Chris, the name change is an exciting step forward, “I’m incredibly proud to say we’ve achieved 25 years in business. When I look back to where it all started in a small forge, I see the journey it’s been on. Making big decisions on the direction I wanted to go in back then, as a lone blacksmith, always with my eye on expanding, could often be daunting.

“Moving in to our purpose built studio and workshop in Ulverston in 2004 has been one of the biggest. Now, the team and I are looking to the future and our next step as CB Arts – a change that allows me as an artist to really invest in the growth of craftsmanship and blacksmithing skills, and for the business as a whole – allowing us to encompass the multiple elements of what we do – as blacksmiths, as artists, across public realm and private sculpture and architectural metal work all under the umbrella of CB Arts, as we look to create amazing metalwork worldwide.”

Aside from the change in company name to CB Arts the ethos of this company has remained the same – dedicated to creating amazing architectural and sculptural metalwork and helping customers realise their project vision and aspirations. Chris can certainly boast a varied portfolio, you can see his craftsmanship across Cumbria – The Glebe Bandstand in Windermere, Staveley Mill Yard footbridge and a bespoke bar top in the lounge of Holbeck Ghyll. As well as across the UK – the giant yellow Y – Yorkshire Gateway sculpture, the Churchill War Rooms in London and the London Stock Exchange War Memorial.

Get ready to see more of Chris’ work when the new Bowder Stone ladder is unveiled this summer!

You can view a selection of CB Arts’ UK wide projects at cb-arts.co.uk – from bridges and public realm sculpture to gates and railings!
