Shirley Williams of PHX Training

Cumbria-based skills and training provider PHX is celebrating at the double after being successfully registered to cover two key areas of apprenticeship training.

PHX has been accepted by the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) to work as a main provider, delivering direct training to Apprenticeship Levy businesses with an annual pay bill of more than £3m. On top of this, PHX has been approved to deliver apprenticeship training as a sub-contractor to non-levy paying SMEs.

PHX development director Shirley Williams said: “We took the opportunity to re-apply to RoATP and submitted a comprehensive and detailed bid supporting what we do and what we can offer. The fruits of our labour paid off when we were accepted by the RoATP on these two main levels.”

Shirley continued: “This opens up great opportunities for us and we can really move forward in our own right as an Apprenticeship provider. We can operate as a prime provider or through other providers indirectly. In both these areas, our services and skills are tailor-made to deliver effective apprenticeship training for the benefit of individuals and organisations of all sizes.”

PHX Training achieved a successful registration in the face of new, tougher rules for providers and employers looking for a place on RoATP with stringent requirements. Providers and employers must prove they have traded for 12 months, are financially stable, skilled and capable of delivering quality apprenticeship training.

PHX Training delivers level two and three apprenticeship qualifications in effective business administration skills, offering learners skills for roles such as office executive, office supervisor, membership administrator and personal administrator. Apprenticeships delivered by PHX also include team leading, customer service, hospitality, management and warehousing across the North West.

The company also provides the new employability practitioner standard level four, which has been designed to help develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours of those helping people to address and overcome obstacles to secure suitable and sustainable employment.

As well as apprenticeship training, PHX Training delivers government-backed initiatives, adult skills, NEET (not in education, employment or training), employability contracts and work-based learning programmes.

The PHX team of qualified trainers delivers a diverse range of resources including offline, online and face-to-face services at six training centres in Barrow, Carlisle, Workington, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool.
