The Government’s ‘Export Hub’ will be coming to Copeland this summer to help local businesses succeed in global markets.

The visit from the Department of International Trade’s (DiT) roadshow has been organised by Copeland MP Trudy Harrison and will take place at Westlakes Science and Technology Park on August 29.

It is part of the Government’s ‘Exporting is GREAT’ campaign to encourage local businesses to take advantage of the global appetite for West Cumbria’s products, skills and expertise.

The hub will showcase live tender opportunities and offer expert advice to help businesses unlock their potential to sell around the world.

Mrs Harrison said: “Copeland has world class skills and products but needs help to access more worldwide markets. Our business export focus will help companies to understand their potential customers and the international markets.

“I’ll be introducing businesses to the teams within DIT who can help, who understand export and who want to promote current export success stories in Copeland.”

It follows on from an event organised recently by Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) where specialists from the DiT came to Cumbria to offer their expertise to which there was an overwhelming demand.

Ivan Baldwin, BECBC chairman, said: “It is essential that the Government continues to invest in creating business opportunities for the North, in particular, Cumbria. This region has unique skills to offer which are not found in many other parts of the world. Helping our businesses promote their expertise internationally will drive not only our local economy, but serve as a showcase of British talent.”

Paul Stowers, DiT Head of North West, Northern Powerhouse, said: “Copeland has exceptional skills, expertise and knowledge and there are many businesses who have world class products and services which would offer excellent export potential.  We are therefore hosting the DiT Export Hub in August, so do come along and join us for this event.”

Any businesses who would like to take part in the Export Hub event and gain a wealth of experience in exporting from DiT specialists are welcome to get in touch with Mrs Harrison by emailing [email protected] as soon as possible.
