PPM’s Managing Director, Gordon McGregor, and Beth Nicholls, PPM’s Communications & Development Manager and Be FaIR Champion receiving their plaque and accreditation certificate from John Raine, Managing Director of SEE Things Limited; CITB’s licensed provider and assessor for the Framework during a recent presentation and celebration ceremony held at PPM’s head office in Carlisle.

Local property maintenance company PPM have announced they have become the first property maintenance company in the UK to be successfully assessed and accredited against the most recent version of CITB’s Be FaIR Framework.

The Framework is an industry specific standard which provides a structure to help employers optimise fairness, inclusion and respect within their organisations and act as a beacon of change for the industry – helping reduce the perception of discrimination and widen recruitment opportunities by taking tangible, measurable steps to help improve the image of the industry.

It has helped PPM to understand and commence to address the challenges that face the industry.

Ian Thompson, Lead Contract Manager of Home Group and key PPM client, was also delighted to be in attendance to offer PPM his congratulations.

Mr Thompson, said: “I’d like to congratulate PPM on their achievement. Their attitude to fairness, inclusion and respect serves as an example of what the construction industry in the UK can and should deliver.

“Be FaIR’s principles should be at the heart of every organisation and it’s pleasing to see CITB focusing on putting the necessary standards in place to ensure that the best possible working environment is achieved and sustained. This can only be good news for the sector and social housing in particular; as we work hard to address some serious issues.”

Gordon McGregor, MD, PPM, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have received such an accolade that recognises and rewards our good FIR practices. We received an outstanding report from our Be FaIR Assessor and we’d like to thank CITB for their support and SEE Things for their guidance.

“Ensuring that fairness and inclusion is understood and embraced throughout the company is very important in helping us to encourage a positive environment for our staff to develop and grow.

“I hope this accreditation sends a strong message that we are serious about investing in our workforce and helping them to take advantage of the opportunities available to them to forge a successful career in construction. This is a long term initiative for PPM but we are committed to continuing our journey and contributing towards the ‘change’ agenda.”
