Global Reach, the first international clean-energy event of its kind brings together regional energy business clusters and experts in the growing nuclear clean-energy sector.

Confirmed speakers for the event on the 6 November 2019 include the keynote speaker, Bret Kugelmass, Titans of Nuclear and leader of the Harvard Energy Impact Centre as well as Alan Woods from Rolls Royce, and Dr Rob Buckingham, Director of the UK Atomic Energy Agency.

The event is organised by the team of young professionals forming Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster’s Shadow Board.

“At a time when the effects of climate change are being felt globally, the challenge for public and private sector is to drive beneficial growth while electrifying and decarbonising our economy. Led by the Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster Shadow Board, Global Reach 2019 will bring together business clusters from around the world, with a focus on forming international collaborations and identifying real opportunities to work together to move the low carbon energy sector forward.” Rob Ward, Nuclear Sector Development Manager, Copeland.

Representatives from energy clusters in Cumbria, Wales, South West England, Northern and Southern France as well as Spain will be part of the event, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport. The event will offer delegates a multitude of opportunities to collaborate via networking, plenary and 1-1 sessions.
Paul Stowers, Head of the North West region at DIT, commented: “Reducing CO2 emissions is a major global priority, and the UK is home to world-leading capability in developing and deploying clean energy technologies to achieve this goal. DIT is delighted to support the opportunity Global Reach will provide to showcase this capability to an international audience, and to allow discussions on collaborating on clean energy projects worldwide.”

John Grainger, Executive Director for BECBC: “The importance of Climate Change is now more widely understood. At the same time, we need to ask ourselves what the response is from those engaged in the energy sector. Global Reach is being organised by young people who will inherit this legacy and, ultimately, will have to face it head on. Of course, this is not a UK issue, but indeed a global one. This event leads the way in creating meaningful conversations and business opportunities by bringing together a wide range of delegates and experts who share this important mission.”

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr. Rob Buckingham FREng, Director of the UK Atomic Energy Agency (UAEA) and the first head of RACE, the new centre for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments
  • Rob Davies Chief Operating Officer of CGN, UK, China General Nuclear Power Group
