The Oak Tree Team with Kevin Walsh and Wendy Aldred

The team at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity has received recognition for their commitment to being a Dementia Friendly service after taking part in staff and volunteer training and assessing and adapting their facilities and services to make them more supportive for those living with Dementia and their Carers.

The team were delighted to receive their Dementia Friendly Logo for display around the site from Kevin Walsh and Wendy Aldred from Carlisle Dementia Action Alliance.

Caroline Johnson, General Manager of Oak Tree, explains “We are delighted to be making a commitment to supporting our clients who live with dementia. We recognise the benefits that pet ownerships can bring and are committed to seeking solutions to support those pet owners who live with dementia to prevent unnecessary animal suffering.”

“We welcome thousands of visitors to Oak Tree Farm every year who enjoy using our tearoom and woodland facilities as well as visiting our ponies and goats on sites or taking part in one of our courses or events. It’s really important to us that all visitors can benefit from our peaceful surroundings and enjoy their time with our Charity and we will continue to do our best to ensure that we are as dementia friendly as possible.”
