Lord Inglewood has been reappointed as chairman of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

His appointment was ratified at a recent meeting of the partnership’s board.

Lord Inglewood was originally appointed to the role in 2018 for a three-year term with the board agreeing that he should be re-appointed for a further three year term of office.

Lord Inglewood said: “I’m delighted that colleagues have once again shown their confidence in me. It is a challenging but a rewarding role and I look forward to continuing the important work that we are jointly undertaking to support Cumbria’s economic and business recovery.

“The combination of the pandemic and wider changes has meant that we are operating in an uncertain environment, which means that continuity and stability are more important than ever.”

Lord Inglewood will chair the partnership’s annual general meeting on Friday, September 24, which is open to members of the public, when he will talk about what Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership has delivered over the past year.

These will include measures taken by it and partner organisations to protect the local economy from the most serious effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to maximise opportunities following the UK’s exit from the European Union.

For the second year running, the meeting will be held via videoconference as a consequence of the pandemic.

Lord Inglewood added: “It has been another extremely challenging year globally and nationally, and for us here in Cumbria.

“I’m very proud of the way our Board and staff have worked with our businesses and wider partners to respond to these challenges.

“It is important that we now concentrate on supporting all of our businesses to move forward with their long term growth plans.”
