A Penrith-based lettings agency has been acquired by a leading Cumbrian property company.

H&H Land and Estates, part of the H&H Group, has taken on Eden Lettings & Management.

Eden Lettings & Management was set up in 2009 by Shirley Thompson and Richard Towler.

It is now recognised as the leading specialised property letting and management company in and around Penrith and the Eden Valley.

Richard and Shirley said they decided it was in the long-term interests of their company, its clients, and tenants to merge their business with a firm with a broad outlook, and they felt that H&H Land & Estate was best placed to promote growth while maintaining the traditional standards that they uphold.

Richard will depart the letting sector while Shirley will lead the lettings business under the umbrella of H&H Land and Estates.

H&H Group chief executive Richard Rankin said: “This is a great opportunity for both companies, and is one which is integral to our ongoing growth and commitment to this important market.

“Not only does it offer us a natural progression, but it also gives us the ability to build on the existing business, and to provide both existing and new clients an enhanced service with greater digital marketing opportunities and wider geographical coverage.

“We extend a warmest welcome to Shirley, and recognise that we are gaining a tremendous member of the team, whose reputation and integrity have helped build EL&M into a successful business and we are all looking forward to working with her.”

Richard, director for Eden Lettings Management, said: “Shirley and I are confident that the arrangements we are making are the best option for our business, our clients and their tenants.

“EL&M will do everything to ensure that the transition takes place with no disruption to service, and Shirley is happy to talk about the new arrangements with any client who has questions.

“Meanwhile, we both wish to express our appreciation and thanks to clients for the support, instructions and business over the years that have enabled EL&M to grow and become an established feature of the Eden property scene.”
