A Carlisle firm has expanded into the North East.

Border Group has acquired Teesdale Event Site Services Limited, known as TESS. Operating out of Barnard Castle, it provides toilet and shower hire services for the construction and event services sectors.

Henry Lloyd, Border Group’s managing director, said: “This acquisition is particularly exciting for Border Group as it significantly expands the geographical area we can cover from West Cumbria across to Tyneside.

“It has been just over a year since Border Group was acquired by machinery dealer Lloyd Ltd, and we feel this is the ideal opportunity to continue to grow the business after a successful first year of operations.”

TESS owners Sarah and Gareth Hinchliffe added: “We have been running the business since 1999 and are incredibly proud of the way it has grown with such a loyal customer base.

“Given the challenges of recent years, we decided now was the right time for us to focus on our other activities and in Border Group we have found the ideal partner to continue to develop the business. We will be working closely with Henry and the Border Group team for a while to ensure a seamless transition.”

Mr Lloyd added: “Like Border Group and Lloyd Ltd, TESS is a family-run business with a loyal and extensive customer base. We therefore intend for TESS to continue to trade under its current branding for the foreseeable future and the TESS team will be working as normal to offer the same excellent service for which they are renowned. We are looking forward to bringing our businesses together and moving the company forward.”
