A new chief executive and vice chairman have been appointed to lead Story Contracting.
The Carlisle-headquartered firm has grown from a £70 million to a £200 million business in six years under the leadership of Jason Butterworth, who will now become vice chairman.
He will be replaced in April next year by Andy Joy, currently Story England managing director. He joined Story last year following a career at Amey.
Story Contracting said its growth looked set to continue due to opportunities for its rail divisions, an increase in work with existing and new clients in its construction and plant businesses, plus new joint ventures and diversification plans.
Mr Butterworth will continue to work closely with existing clients, Story said, as well as work closely with the board on future investment, diversification plans and strategic direction.
Fred Story, owner and chairman, said: “This is a really exciting time for the business, and as we celebrate our 35th anniversary, I am delighted that Jason has agreed to take on this role to support the board with investment decisions, the diversification strategy, our major frameworks, and helping me to ensure we achieve sustainable growth across the regions.”
