Stuart Bell, new partner at Dodd & Co

A Cumbrian man whose professional footballing days were cut short by injury has made it to the top of his next profession.

Stuart Bell joined leading accountants Dodd & Co in 2011 as a trainee after a knee injury forced him to retire early from a budding career as a professional footballer at Carlisle United.

He studied for his qualifications with Dodds and has now been appointed as a partner of the firm.

Dodd & Co Chartered Accountants are delighted to announce that Stuart Bell has been appointed to the Partnership, with effect from 1 January 2023.

Stuart, who will split his time across both the Carlisle and Penrith offices, specialises in the hospitality and construction sectors. He also heads up the firm’s digital systems team.

He said: “I am over the moon to be offered this new opportunity and I am really looking forward to continuing to build long standing relationships with clients, something which is really important at Dodds. Seeing a client’s business develop over the years and helping them with their long term plans, whether that be to expand and grow or to begin to think about succession plans and selling up to move on to another venture or into retirement is so rewarding.”

Fellow partner Alison Johnston added: “We are delighted to welcome Stuart into the partnership and we are excited to see him continue to drive the introduction of new technologies into both our clients’ businesses and our own. Stuart has been a key part of ensuring we stay at the forefront of these changes.”
