A former Keswick butchers and deli is set to be transformed into a Greggs.
The chain has applied for planning permission to convert the former Thomasons shop on Station Street into its new site.
It plans to move out of its current store on Market Square to the new premises.
The butchers shop has been vacant since brothers Bryan and Malcolm Thomason decided to hang up their aprons last year.
Greggs has lodged planning applications with the Lake District National Park Authority for advertising signs and to transform the interior into a bakery.
A Greggs spokesman said: “Within the next few months, we’ll be relocating from Market Square to a new and improved shop on Station Street.
It is not clear from the plans if seating will be included in the new bakery.
One of the signs, the planning application said, would be “a heritage hanging sign”.
