With the addition of Lloyd Equestrian to its domestic Lawn & Leisure business, as well as selling and servicing new Isuzu and used pick-ups and 4x4s, Lloyd Ltd has become a one-stop-shop for the rural community and beyond.
Now run by the third generation of the Lloyd family, managing director George Lloyd works closely with his father Barry Lloyd, chief executive, to build on the achievements of the past six decades of growth and success for the company.

Lloyd Ltd’s beginnings as a tractor dealer have been at the heart of the company’s development over the past six decades, becoming one of New Holland’s largest dealer groups in the UK with an area covering from Lancashire in the south up to Mid & East Lothian in the north.
Its branches in Cumbria are on Eden Business Park in Penrith and Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle.

Construction & materials handling
In recent years, Lloyd Ltd has added significant focus to its portfolio of machinery to support the construction sector.
The company has had a long-term partnership with Manitou, which has extended into its construction range and it is through the company’s relationship with Bobcat that the real growth has been experienced with Lloyd Ltd now tripling its Bobcat sales within a five-year period.
From mini-diggers to tracked loaders and skidsteers, and with the latest addition of compact tractors to their range, Bobcat has proved to be a popular partner with Lloyd Ltd’s customers.
As with all aspects of the business, the vision has been clear: to offer customers a one-stop shop for all their machinery needs whatever the sector.
As a result, Lloyd Ltd has added New Holland’s construction range, as well as BOMAG, Thwaites Dumpers and Toyota Material Handling to cover a vast array of applications, from the smallest track barrow to the largest excavator.

Lawncare
As the company has grown together with the needs of its customers, Lloyd Ltd has added related equipment and solutions to its portfolio for the convenience of those customers, all of which are a natural auxiliary progression from the core business.
For its customers who need to transport their machinery, adding Brian James Trailers was an obvious expansion.
Similarly, where there is a requirement to tow those trailers or simply for a workhorse vehicle to go from site to site, the Isuzu pick-up franchise was taken on at the Dumfries branch, with quality used vehicles also being sold from there and under the Lloyd 4×4 brand at Carlisle.
Extending the commercial groundcare offering into products focused on the needs of domestic users for their gardens and outdoor spaces at home was another obvious choice, so every branch has a dedicated Lawncare Sales Specialist advising customers on the right product, from robotic lawnmowers to ride-on garden tractors and battery-powered handheld tools, as well as an online shop – www.lloydlawncare.co.uk – for customers’ convenience.
In addition, the rural community is actively involved in the equestrian world, therefore Lloyd Equestrian was created, with both a store at the Carlisle branch and an online shop – www.lloydequestrianshop.co.uk – selling competition and casual wear, including helmets, jackets and base layers, as well as riding boots, tack, grooming products and an extensive range of feed and bedding.
