The first ever Conference Cumbria was held at Energus near Workington today, Thursday 10th October.
The theme of the day was ‘raise you game’ and attendees enjoyed a series of inspirational talks, engaging discussions and an opportunity to network with local businesses.
Teresa Griffiths CBE, a leadership consultant and non-executive director for North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust gave a presentation on leadership.
Teresa spent 27 years in the RAF where she specialised in Aeromedical Evacuation Nursing, Pre-hospital Emergency Care, Trauma and Resuscitation.
Attendees also heard from a panel of four inspirational local business leaders including – Colin Sneath – co-founder of A Day’s Walk Farm Shop Local Produce Champion; Emma Sherlock – director of operations at Stan Sherlock Associates; Caroline Hughes – shareholder and general manager at the Melbreak Hotel, and John Coughlan – CEO at TSP Engineering
The panellists shared their experiences and insights on how they’ve ‘raised their game’ throughout their careers.
In the afternoon, there was a keynote speech by international speaker and the creator and author of Celebrity Service and Celebrity Service Superstars, Geoff Ramm.
During his career, Geoff Ramm has challenged and inspired entrepreneurs, high performance teams and organisations across 47 countries to create award winning ideas to outperform the competition.
Exhibitors at the event included Stagecoach, Go Low Carbon, Leo Group Ltd, Cumbria Tourism, Westmorland & Furness Council, Cumberland Council and Dodd & Co, as well as other businesses in a range of sectors including business services, marketing and PR, training and IT.
