Careers advice organisation Inspira has been commissioned by Cumbria’s two councils to deliver careers and skills guidance to young people.
The contracts will each run for two years, with a one-year extension option for both authorities.
The contracts will be delivered on behalf of Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council and aim to make sure that the most vulnerable groups of young people will be provided with individual careers information, advice and guidance.
The combined value of the contracts is £2.4 million (£1.4m for Cumberland and £1m for Westmorland and Furness).
Providing individual careers advice to young people helps to make sure that they are inspired to make a successful transition into education, employment or training after completing their school studies in Year 11.
Vulnerable young people will receive individualised careers information advice and guidance and up to date labour market information to ensure they are aware of sector specific opportunities and are supported and motivated to make informed choices about their future careers to help prevent them becoming NEET.
Inspira will also manage the September Guarantee to make sure all young people have a suitable offer of post-16 learning and support those young people Not in Education, Training and Employment.
Mark Bowman, chief executive, said: “Inspira is a leading provider of careers advice and guidance for young people, with a long history of delivering positive outcomes.
“We are excited to develop our relationships with Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness councils and look forward to working with them to ensure that young people receive the support they need to build a bright future.”
