A Cumbrian village’s Post Office is on the market for £595,000.
Kirkby Lonsdale Post Office has been owned and run by James Kettlewell since 1992, who is now hoping to sell to retire.
It is being sold by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.
Occupying a prominent corner plot, the Post Office is considered a hub within the local community. The business faces a busy car park and is surrounded by a mixture of residential and commercial properties.
Christie & Co said: “The property itself is a stunning stone-built building which has retained many of its period features. Within the store there is a post office counter with two till positions, one being the secure fortress area, as well as a retail shelving area and a spacious storeroom. On the first floor there is also a charming four-bedroom owners’ accommodation.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for a new owner to acquire a longstanding business with scope to introduce convenience products and grow the retail space. There is also potential to expand the owners accommodation subject to planning.”
James added: “After successfully running the Post Office for over 30 years, serving our local residents and business community, we are looking forward to a well-deserved retirement and are confident Christie & Co will source the right buyer.”
