Many people will have considered the idea of running their own business or turning a hobby into a full-time career.

The freedom to be your own boss and in charge of your own destiny is an attractive proposition.

The start of a new year feels like the perfect time to take the leap and turn a business dream into reality, but developing a business plan can be a daunting experience – with new things to learn and inevitable challenges to overcome.

Cumbria Business Growth Hub, part of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, offers a comprehensive business support package for entrepreneurs and new business owners to help set them on a course for growth and success.

Support available from the Hub includes:

  • Business Model Canvas Session: Entrepreneurs will engage in an in-depth workshop aimed at developing and refining their business model, providing a strategic framework crucial for business planning.
  • Business Planning Session: Participants will have the opportunity to craft a detailed and effective business plan, essential for laying the groundwork for a successful business venture.
  • Start-up courses: Our business start-up courses cover everything new business owners need to know to get started, from honing your idea to staying legal, managing finances and marketing.
  • Specialised programs: Tailored programs focusing on diverse disciplines such as running an online business, starting a side hustle, and starting an artisan/craft production business, providing niche-specific strategies and insights.
  • 1-2-1 business advice: Entrepreneurs will also benefit from personalised 1-2-1 business adviser support, offering tailored guidance from experienced professionals.
  • Entrepreneurs who initiate trading following support provided by the Growth Hub in the Westmorland and Furness council area will have access to a small grant to facilitate their business growth.

Head of business support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Lesley Robinson said: “There’s a real sense of excitement here at the Growth Hub ahead of the new and interesting business support programmes we’re going to be running this year.

“We can’t wait to get stuck into helping entrepreneurs make their plans a reality! Anyone thinking of starting a business or going self-employed should immediately get in touch.

“With so much on offer we’re guaranteed to be able to support your requirements.”
