Businesses across Cumbria will be treated to a night of lights, laughs and networking next month as LA23NET returns for 2024.

The event, on Friday February 16, coincides with Carlisle hosting The Light District: Crown and Coronation, a dazzling display that will illuminate the city’s iconic buildings.

Organisers Intro will light up its Paternoster Road HQ and business leaders will be treated to networking drinks and food, and an update on the county’s tourism plans, before heading out to enjoy the show.

Paul Walker, destination manager at Cumberland Council, and Rachel Bell, vice chair of Cumbria Tourism, will both speak at the event.

Rachel said: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to share our plans for tourism in Cumbria for 2024 with the business community – many of whom are vital to what we do.

“The crown jewels might be in the city, but let’s not forget that Cumbria and the Lake District are the jewels in the crown of the UK’s tourism industry.”

Following the networking and the tourism update, guests will be invited to take to the streets and enjoy the light show which has been produced by Historic Royal Palaces and Luxmuralis, and will see iconic landmarks including the city’s Cathedral and Castle illuminated.

And, the whole event will be wrapped up with drinks at one of Carlisle’s hidden bars to finish the night in style.

Helen Statham, director of Intro PR and Social Media, which organises LA23NET, said: “Carlisle is going to be glittering in all its finery, so we thought what better way to join in than by bringing together some mighty fine people for an evening of brilliant conversation and connection making.

“Not only are our LA23NET guests going to get the inside track on Cumbria’s tourism plans for 2024, but they’ll have the chance to meet lots of new people, enjoy a unique cultural moment for the city and – I’m sure – have plenty of laughs along the way.”

LA23NET is sponsored by Edwin Thompson, The Cumberland, Harrison Drury and NXT Recruitment.

Friday Light Live with LA23NET takes place at Intro HQ, Carlisle on Friday, February 16 from 5.30pm. Tickets are £30 plus VAT and can be bought at https://bit.ly/LA23NET_Feb
