Scottish Water has appointed Carlisle-based company BPD Zenith to drive its asset management plans as part of a six-year, £5.8 billion strategic maintenance and improvement programme.

BPD Zenith is a global leader in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, and is based at the city’s Kingmoor Park industrial and retail estate

In line with government and regulatory expectations, Scottish Water launched a six-year investment programme in 2021 aimed at making improvements to Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

With over 2,500 planned projects in progress to improve drinking water quality, protect the environment and support economic growth, the programme aims to support the success of the water supplier’s three strategic ambitions; providing excellence in service, going beyond net zero emissions, and helping to deliver greater value and financial sustainability.

Scottish Water is a publicly owned water supplier, serving 2.62 million households and 159,000 business customers across Scotland. The provider supplies 1.51 billion litres of drinking water daily and takes away and treats 1.07 billion litres of waste from customers’ properties, before returning it safely to the environment.

As part of the multi-year contract, BPD Zenith, which has 30 years’ experience in EAM, will work in partnership with Scottish Water to streamline operations, maximise asset performance and efficiency, and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality water and wastewater services to all its customers across Scotland.

John Wigham from Scottish water said: “It’s exciting to be collaborating with BPD Zenith.

“This will play a key part in enabling Scottish Water’s ambitious asset management aspirations and our strategic objectives to meet the needs of our customers and communities every day.”

Richard Donaldson, managing director at BPD Zenith said: “We are thrilled to partner with Scottish Water, a forward-thinking organisation that recognises the value of effective asset management, to deliver their new transformation project.

“Our team is dedicated to providing world class EAM solutions that not only optimise asset performance, but also contribute to a sustainable, carbon neutral future.

“BPD Zenith have been delivering asset management solutions for almost 30 years. Over this time, we have developed award-winning, industry-specific accelerators and add-ons that provide sophisticated functionality.”
