A housing development on the outskirts of Penrith has been named the best in the North West at a prestigious industry awards ceremony.
Genesis Homes’ popular Eamont Chase development in Carleton was judged the best large development consisting of more than 50 homes at this year’s North West Residential Property Awards, held in Manchester.
Competing against major developments across the region including Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Cheshire, the 82-home Eamont Chase was named the winner after all 55 homes released as part of its first phase of sales were either sold or reserved within the space of a year.
Nicky Gordon, Genesis Homes’ chief executive, said: “Eamont Chase represents Genesis Homes’ most ambitious development since the company was founded, and we have been delighted with the popularity of the high specification homes we have created here.
“There is a remarkable team led by site manager Adrian Griffiths and assistant site manager Chris Ellis, and they have all played an integral part in the success of the development, from planning right through to the construction stage.
“The North West Residential Property Awards evening is one of the UK residential development industry’s most prestigious ceremonies, and to be awarded one of the biggest accolades is an amazing achievement for the entire Genesis Homes team and recognition that the new homes we build are of the highest quality.”
The Eamont Chase development consists of Genesis Homes’ most popular 10 house types, ranging from two to five bedrooms, and includes 24 affordable homes to address the need for new housing for local people as identified in the former Eden District Council’s Local Plan.
Benefits for the local community include a contribution of £316,000 from Genesis Homes towards secondary school education and more than 100 jobs created for local people, contractors and subcontractors, while an estimated £12 million will be spent in the local economy throughout the construction process.
Popular features of Eamont Chase include a large public green space for all residents to enjoy, increased parking spaces and a sustainable drainage system pond to improve the area’s drainage, which has also encouraged wildlife back to the area.
Nicky said: “As a homebuilder whose roots are very firmly in Penrith, it fills us with particular pride that we have been able to create a large housing development which brings so many positive benefits to the wider community.
“Our customers and the areas we cover are always at the forefront of our minds when we start the planning process on each development, and to receive such glowing feedback from our residents is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.”
