International Women’s Day returns to Cumbria

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce has announced its upcoming International Women’s Day event, set to take place on Thursday 8th March 2024, at North Lakes Hotel and Spa in Penrith.    

With a range of activities tailored to women in business, the event promises to be an uplifting and empowering day. 

Leadership and business Coach Laura Cadman will kick off the day with an interactive session centred around cultivating a powerful mindset which empowers you and uplifts those around you.   

This will be followed by a keynote speech from Kathryn Graves, business owner and director of The Toffee Shop Limited, who will share her inspiring journey and lessons learned.  

Attendees will then take part in three interactive workshops on:   

  • Exploring the changes to family friendly legislation – Joanne Holborn, employment partner at Knights, will lead this session on the forthcoming changes to family-friendly legislation, set to be implemented from April 2024.    
  • Lead like a woman and step into your feminine power – leadership and empowerment coach, Jen Grange will explore how – by harnessing their feminine qualities and strengths – attendees can bring new ideas, perspective and tools into their work and home life.    
  • Team meetings – author of Teams for our Time Judith Cantrell will look at we can best use meetings to solve problems and why we shouldn’t apply one size to fit all approach to our meetings.    

After a networking lunch, the attendees will reconvene for a panel discussion featuring business leaders from various industries, providing valuable insights on women in business, leadership and success.  

Panellists include:   

  • Shiby Bernard, chief operations officer, McMenon Engineering   
  • Heather Grisedale, experience and engagement Lead, The Harrison Network   
  • Collette Butterworth, director, journey inspiration and co-founder, Rothwell Enterprises Ltd   
  • Jennifer Cormack, sales and marketing director, Windermere Lake Cruises   

Head of business support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Lesley Robinson said: “We are thrilled to host Cumbria’s International Women’s Day again this year at North Lakes Hotel and Spa.  

“This event is always an enriching experience, with lots of takeaways, networking opportunities, and inspiration for women in business across the region. This year’s event boasts a range of new speakers, workshops and ideas exploring important themes and issues.”
