Carlisle’s Kingmoor Park is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The site was originally a Ministry of Defence site developed for Royal Air Force operations, but has been transformed over the past 25 years into a dynamic business hub.
At the heart of Kingmoor Park’s transformation is Brian Scowcroft, a local entrepreneur selected by Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council in Council to develop the site in 1999.
Mr Scowcroft’s dedication to creating a sustainable business environment has been key to the park’s evolution.
Working alongside him, Neil McIntyre, managing director, has played a pivotal role in implementing innovative projects on the park, including the ModVillage, Cumbria’s first shipping container business village, and a 13-acre solar farm that has significantly reduced the park’s carbon footprint.
Kingmoor Park is also committed to supporting charitable causes, particularly Carlisle Youth Zone, which Mr Scowcroft helped initiate in 2008.
Mr McIntyre, a trustee of CYZ, received the Carlisle Youth Zone Hero Award in 2020. This partnership underscores the park’s dedication to fostering a vibrant community and investing in the next generation.
Kingmoor Park is currently developing its K2 project, build-to-suit opportunities offering customisable workspaces for businesses.
K2 has already attracted DPD, which completed a 62,800 sq ft pre-let in September 2023. The building has been designed to accommodate their specific mix of van and truck logistics/
The 25th anniversary celebrations began with an exclusive dinner at Rickerby Retreat in Carlisle.
