A Cumbrian firm has joined forces with a solar business to help it expand.
Ortus Energy, a leading developer of commercial solar projects led by Alistair Booth, Thomas Van Mourik and Charles Bagshaw, has linked up with SSE Energy Solutions.
The collaboration will allow Ortus Energy to broaden its reach in the rooftop solar market and become the exclusive platform for SSE’s behind-the-meter strategy.

Under the agreement, SSE Energy Solutions will finance the development and installation of solar panels for Ortus Energy’s commercial clients.
This innovative financing model enables businesses to access solar energy at a fixed rate through long-term power purchase agreements, eliminating the need for upfront capital investment, the firms said.
The deal includes the acquisition of 13MW (10MW of the 13MW is within the Northern Powerhouse) of existing rooftop solar assets across multiple sites owned by six major corporate customers, marking a significant milestone for Ortus Energy.
SSE Energy Solutions has also committed to financing up to 130MW of additional solar projects at commercial premises over the next three years.
