A H&H auctioneer is celebrating after graduating from university and being enrolled as a fellow of The Livestock Auctioneer’s Association.
Joe Bowman has graduated from Harper Adams University with a degree in livestock market operations and management.
Joe joined H&H in 2015 aged 21, and since his first auction, where he sold three chickens, Joe has taken on significant responsibilities for H&H, including managing all breeding sheep and store sales at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, and overseeing sales in Kirkby Stepehen, Lazonby, and Middleton-in-Teesdale.
He was recently nominated for a prestigious national award.
Joe said: “Alongside my day to day work, I have been long time studying and preparing for this goal, so I am delighted to have successfully completed the degree.”
Originally from Brampton Fell Farm, he has been involved in farming from a young age. Raised on the family’s 500-acre mixed farm, Joe’s early experiences included managing Swaledale Ewes and Limousin Cross Cows. His auctioneering career began in 2015 as a yard drover at H&H.
Scott Donaldson, managing director of Harrison & Hetherington, praised Joe’s dedication and hard work. He said: “Joe’s commitment and perseverance have been exceptional. His achievement reflects not only his personal dedication but also the high standards of our auctioneering team. This qualification will significantly benefit our company and enhance our service to clients.”
