People have the chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour of three of Cumbria’s leading firms as part of this year’s National Manufacturing Day.
Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is hosting the events on September 26 at Kimberly-Clark in Barrow, McMenon Engineering in Workington and Appleby Creamery.
The chamber said it was an exclusive opportunity to meet the people behind these businesses, view their facilities and learn how their products are manufactured at scale.
Kimberly-Clark

McMenon Engineering

Appleby Creamery

Appleby Creamery produces a wide range of distinctive and characterful cheeses ranging from soft cheeses, such as blue, brie and smoked brie to hard varieties, including cheddar and caerphilly-style cheeses.
To increase their sustainability they have embarked on a project to reduce their reliance on both grid supplied electricity and LPG.
Installing an array of solar panels on the creamery roof that will provide a high percentage of electricity requirements, at peak it will generate 180kW and will be able to export up to 100kW of that green energy to the grid.
